New Delhi, Dec 31 (The Street Press India) – After two days of thick fog, the visibility in the National Capital Region got better on Sunday, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The railways reported delays of two to seven hours for 23 trains heading to Delhi because of foggy conditions.
In Delhi, the IMD noted shallow fog with a minimum temperature of 11.7 degrees Celsius, which is five notches above the season’s average. At 10 am, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was measured at 388, falling into the ‘very poor’ category.
The weather office reported a notable enhancement in visibility at the IGI Airport on Sunday. Runway Visual Ranges (RVRs) now vary from 500 to 800 meters, signaling improved aviation conditions.
At 8:30 am, the relative humidity was at 91 percent. For Air Quality Index (AQI) reference, ratings are categorized as follows: 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’, and 401-500 ‘severe’.
