Nuh, Nov 19 (The Street Press India) – Three minors were caught in relation to a incident where they threw stones, causing injuries to eight women heading to a prayer ceremony, according to the police on Saturday.
The nine-year-old was granted bail after appearing before the child welfare committee, while the two 12-year-olds were sent to a correctional facility following their appearance before the juvenile justice board, as per the information provided.
On Thursday night in Nuh, at least eight women were injured when individuals, yet to be identified, reportedly threw stones at them, believed to have come from a mosque and madrasa. A senior police officer mentioned on Saturday that the investigation is underway, but as of now, there’s no evidence pointing to the involvement of anyone else.
On Friday, the police officially filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified individuals in relation to this incident.
The police questioned three minors in the presence of their parents and subsequently took them into custody.
Krishan Kumar, a spokesperson for the Nuh police, stated, “All three are students of Madrasa and they were apprehended after they were caught in CCTV footage. The involvement of others has not come to the fore yet but a further probe is underway. If we find involvement of any other during the investigation, action will be taken as per the law”.
The case was filed after a complaint by Ramotar, a resident of Ward 11 in Nuh. He reported that he organized a ‘kuan poojan’ ceremony for his younger brother’s son on Thursday.
Contrastingly, the Madrasa authorities asserted that the children were playing with slippers and pebbles on the roof, and a few accidentally hit the procession.
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has strongly condemned the stone-pelting incident.
Pawan Kumar, the state president of VHP, stated in a press conference on Friday that they are calling for stringent action against the culprits.
